Frequently Asked Questions
How does LILY P4D work?
When you step on the pressure-sensitive footpad, your mic is activated. When you step off the footpad, the volume of your mic will be lowered, which reduces mic feedback, mic bleed and unwanted stage noise. You can choose from 3 levels of volume reduction to fit your needs: light, medium, or heavy. Check out our expected gain reduction chart in our user manual.
Can I use LILY P4D with any type of microphone?
Yes! LILY P4D works with all types of microphones including dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones. It can also be used with wireless microphones. LILY P4D works with any balanced mic signal, giving you maximum flexibility for any live sound setup.
What makes LILY P4D different from a microphone gate?
LILY P4D offers a more natural and intuitive solution for mic control. Unlike traditional microphone gates that rely on sound sensitivity or optical sensors, LILY P4D uses a pressure-sensitive footpad, allowing you to adjust the mic to full volume by simply stepping on the footpad. When you step off the footpad, the volume is reduced. This eliminates issues like misfires from head movements, lighting interference, or unwanted sensitivity adjustments. The result is smooth, reliable changes in mic volume that reduce mic feedback, mic bleed, and stage noise; giving you total control without sacrificing sound quality.
How hard is it to set up LILY P4D?
Setting up LILY P4D is quick and easy:
Step 1: Connect the LILY P4D control pedal to your microphone and your mixer or snake with XLR cables.
Step 2: Connect 9V power from your pedal board. Or use the included 9V power supply.
Step 3: Connect the pressure-sensitive footpad to the P4D input on the LILY P4D control pedal.
Now you have full control over your mic by stepping on and off the footpad. For more details, check out Setting Up LILY P4D.
